Originally from a rural village of the Kampong Cham province’s Prey Chhor district, Kimsoeng is 49 years old, married, and has two children. She and her husband earn a living through working for others for a fee. Sometimes her husband works as a carpenter to better support the family. Having been in this business for eight years, she is able to earn about 14,000 KHR per day and save about 2,000 KHR each day for future needs.
Kimsoeng is in her first loan cycle with VisionFund. She is asking for a loan of 2,000,000 KHR from VisionFund. Kimsoeng is going to use this loan to assist in paying for her child’s wedding. She hopes this loan will enable her child to have a warm family.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
