Kimhong, 59, is married and has four children residing in Kampong Cham province. Currently, one of her children is still in her care as this son is still in school. She is able to earn up to 30,000 riels (KHR) per day rice cropping on one and a half hectares and working for a fee during her spare time.
This is the first loan for Kimhong with Kiva’s partner VisionFund. She is seeking 1,800,000 KHR. She will use her loan to buy fertilizer, and to pay for plowing and transplanting fees. She hopes that she can make more income from her current business to sustain her living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
