Ruth sells various products, mostly clothing and shoes. She works from home, not having a facility for her work because of the high cost of renting sites.

She has several years experience along this line and she is doing well. She has many customers that ask for different products. The loan that she has requested will be used to buy clothing and shoes for the Mother’s Day campaign. Those dates are very good for her business because sales increase.

Thanks to her work she can provide for her family as she is the only breadwinner. In the future she would like to have a bazaar in her own facility. Ruth is excited by the support she is receiving in her business. To all the lenders she wants to say, Many thanks! In the photo she is wearing red pants.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
