Mahmoud is a 47-year-old married man from Lebanon. He is living with his wife and four children. Three of his children are still attending school, and one is working.
Mahmoud owns land, where he cultivates all kinds of fruits and vegetables. He also owns an apartment, from which he earns rental fees. In Lebanon, it is common at all levels of society for people to have multiple businesses. It’s hard to cover the high cost of living, not to mention educational fees.
Today, Mahmoud is requesting a loan from Kiva partner Vitas S.A.L to purchase the needed trees, seed, and fertilizers for his lands in order to be able to proceed with his work appropriately. He is very optimistic and hopes to be able to further expand his business.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
