Sarah lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married with ten children, all of whom attend school. She does not look after any additional family members. Sarah has been selling green bananas at retail in the market for the last ten years, working six days a week. She has applied for a loan of 2,000,000 UGX to enable her to purchase more bunches of green bananas for sale. She has no other source of income. The main business challenge she is facing includes seasonality and transportation. She would like to start selling green bananas at wholesale, to own a delivery van in order to ease transportation and also to build her own house. She joined MCDT because she did not have to give in monetary collateral in order to access loans. She is renting a house with both electricity and piped water now. Her monthly expenses include rent and school fees for her children.
