A citizen from a rural village of Kandal province’s Sa Ang district, Phorn is aged 45 years and married. She has six children to take care of. To feed her family, she has worked hard as a rice farmer for 25 years. The current business earns her about 38,000 KHR per day.
This is the first microloan for Phorn with VisionFund. Now she is requesting for a loan of 2,000,000 KHR to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her farmland and also to use a portion of it to spend on renovating her old house. She hopes to make healthy rice to increase her family’s income so as to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
