Trifon is 29 years old, single, and lives in a rented house in Colomi. Trifon is a farmer and raises locoto and potatoes on his own farmland. He sells in the same community. He tells us that he had expenses for a motorcycle that he uses to transport his wares and a chainsaw that he uses to prepare his land for planting. He has approached our institution for a loan so he can build a house. He is very happy for having this opportunity and he will now have a house of his own where he will live happily. He currently lives in a rented house and it’s one other expense that he has to cover each month, but thanks to the loan he will have a better future.

About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
