Hadija is married and has three children, all of whom attend school. She owns a house that has electricity but not piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees.
For the past four years, she has owned a restaurant business, where neighbors and town dwellers are her potential customers. She faces a major challenge with delayed payments by those who buy on credit.
With the Kshs 50,000 she wants to purchase a stock of goods like sugar, rice, maize and wheat flour and cooking oil. She dreams of expanding to a modern café in the future.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
