Living in a rural village of the Dambae district of Kampong Cham province, Sengheang is a 47-year-old mother of three children, one of whom is still dependent on her and in school.
She and her husband earn a living through farming rice and planting cassava as the main source of the family’s income. They have been in this business for almost 20 years, earning about 44,000 KHR per day.
Sengheang is just with VisionFund in this cycle, and now she is requesting a loan of 4,000,000 KHR. With this loan, she is going to buy pesticides and fertilizers for her farmland and use a portion of it to spend on labor fees.
She hopes to get a high crop yield from her plantation so as to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
