Farida is a married woman. She has four children, all of whom attend school. Farida owns a house that neither has electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees.
Farida has operated a charcoal selling business, selling from home to her neighbors and passersby. She faces stiff competition from other firewood operators in the business.
With the 45,000 KES she wants to purchase sacks of charcoal for resale. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
