A villager from a rural area located in Kampong Cham province’s Ponhea Krek district, Roern is 39 years old and married. She has two dependent children, one of whom is in school. She works as a farmer who grows rice, cassava and rubber in the local area. Having been in this business for 13 years, she is able to earn about 69,000 KHR per day to support her family.
This is Roern’s first cycle with VisionFund and now she is applying for a loan of 3,000,000 KHR to buy fertilizer and seeds for her farmland and use a portion of it to spend on labor costs. She hopes to get a high crop yield so as to make a better living and keep her child in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
