Van, 52 and a mother of two children, is a farmer from Thmor Kol district of Battambang, where her residential area is. Paddy rice-cropping, which she has been doing for 25 years, is the only source of the family’s income.
Three cycles ago was Van’s first loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). The past loan has supported her crop at a good pace with a good yield in return; she has completely repaid her past loan, too.
Now, her requested loan amount is 3,600,000 KHR. She will use this loan to buy rice seed, potash, and gasoline to pump water for the farm. She hopes to earn more income so she can upgrade her living condition into a prosperous condition.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
