Sim, orginally from Moung Russey district of Battambang province, is married and blessed with six children. Currently only three kids are under her dependency as they are still in school. To sustain the family, she grows rice, pineapples, and corn. Her farming activities are the main source of her family’s income. She has been involved in her current business for 16 years. Her previous loan was her first loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has fully repaid her past loan, which enabled her to upgrade her lifestyle. Now, she is seeking a 2,500,000 KHR loan in order to prepare her farmland for her crops. She hopes to grow her crops on time and receive a high yield.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
