Oun
A citizen from Kampong Cham province, Oun, 39, is married and has three children. To cover the expenses of her family’s daily food consumption, she sells homemade rice wine, raises pigs, and works at a construction site. To better feed the family, her husband also works for others for a fee for extra income. Oun has been involved in her current business for 20 years.

This is not Oun's first loan from VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). The past two loans have not only improved her business but also supported her living status in a good manner. Now, Oun is applying for a loan of 3,100,000 KHR. She will buy fertilizer, rice seed, pig feed, and pay for plowing. She hopes that she can earn more income from her business and keep her children in school until tertiary school.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
