Josephina is 43 years old, married and the mother of two children. She lives in Calamaba, Misamis Occidental, where she has earned a living for the last five years by running a grocery store. She earns 7,000 PHP every month and joined GDMPC in 2011. She is requesting a loan for 10,000 PHP to buy additional products to sell, including coffee, sugar, canned goods and bond paper. Her goal for the future is to make improvements to her house and to the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
