Lazaro, married with six children, is a renowned coffee farmer in Nyabihoko Village. He is among the few farmers in the area who have been able to pay his children’s school fees and at the same time put up a permanent house for his family. Due to the high demand for local brew, Lazaro has started a local brewing business, which supplements his income from his banana and coffee plantations. He uses low-priced banana as raw material for brewing his potent gin. He has applied for a loan of 500,000 UGX from UGAFODE to buy organic manure to use on his plantation

This loan is part of UGAFODE's green loan program, giving Ugandan farmers the support they need to grow and process organic fruits and vegetables. Funds will be used to obtain critical resources like processing equipment, mulch and organic seedlings to reduce waste water contamination and improve consumer health. The green loan program also helps clients combat regional problems like deforestation and over-fishing.
