Thelma is 50 years old, married, and has five children. She lives in Aurora, Zamboanga Del Sur. She owns and operates a farm, planting and harvesting coconut palms and producing copra, to earn a living. She has been in her business for over eight years and earns 4,000 PHP every month.
She has been a member of GDMPC since the year 2011. Now, she has requested a loan of 8,000 PHP, which she will use to purchase fertilizer, such as manure. She wants to make improvements to her house, and to improve the general living conditions of her family, in the future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
