Esther Noemi
Esther, 39, lives in the city of Cañete, in the Imperial District, with her adored son who is her main reason for living. She is a very kind, hard-working, enthusiastic person who dedicates all her efforts to providing for her family, since she is both mother and father to her son. Unfortunately, due to a lack of economic resources and out of necessity, she has had to work since she was very young. Esther was unable to get training in pastry making as she would have liked, but in her free time she prepares delicious desserts to share with her family.

On her own initiative, and with much tenacity and dedication, Esther works as a hired hand on a farm in her city. She works every day, an average of ten hours daily, and believes she is doing well because of her hard work and kindness to others.

Esther is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to their help she will be able to rebuild one of the walls of her home. It is currently in disrepair and needs to be reinforced. This will mean more safety and well-being for Esther and her family, allowing her to continue working toward her goal of having her own bakery.

Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
