Luciana is a married woman with four children, all of whom attend school. She lives at her own house which has neither electricity nor piped water. Her largest monthly expense is food for her family.
For the past five years, she has operated a food stall business, selling from her home to her neighbors and passersby. Her potential customers are neighbors and passersby. She faces a major challenge of seasonality in her business. Luciana dreams of establishing a restaurant business in the future.
With her requested loan of 20,000 KES, she wants to purchase stocks of wheat flour, maize flour, and beans. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
