"LOS GiRASOLES", a group which is always prompt to make its repayments, is now in its 26th loan cycle. One of its members is 23-year-old Flor who lives with her partner and has 2 children. For a number of years she has had a beer vending machine in her home. Things are going well, she says, because her income has improved. She will use the loan to buy beer. Her greatest ambition is to provide work for her children. The group is grateful to KIVA investors for the loan. Flor is first on the left and is wearing a sky blue top.

Hace años tiene si distribuidora de cerveza que puso en su casa. Ella cuenta que le va bien que sus ingresos económicos han mejorado. El préstamo lo invertirá en la compra de cerveza. Su mayor deseo es darles una profesión a sus hijos. El grupo agradece a los inversionistas KIVA por el préstamo. Flor es la primera del lado izquierdo viste polo celeste.

The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
