Alltane
Alltane is 40 years old, married and has four children, one of whom is currently attending school. The family lives in a minority community in a small house that is in very poor condition. Alltane is a housewife and her husband works in construction. They started to add a room on to their house but can’t finish the work because of a lack of money. That is why she is requesting a loan to buy building materials, doors and windows to finish the renovation and give her children a pleasant place to study. She hopes in the future to provide better living conditions to her children. She and her family want to thank all Kiva lenders for their help!

Roma people and ethnic Serbians have historically faced a tremendous amount of hardship in Kosovo, and are still socioeconomically and politically vulnerable. During the 1998-1999 war, the fighting displaced 250,000 people. Among those displaced were an estimated 80-90% of the region’s Roma population. Today, Roma and ethnic Serbians living in Kosovo still face discrimination and are excluded from many aspects of society, including fair political representation and high rates of unemployment. By supporting this loan you are helping provide opportunity to marginalized populations.
