Glendi is mother to two children. In the past two years, she has worked in a restaurant which has given her experience in the business of food sales. Currently, she is being given the opportunity to have her own business selling smoothies (drinks made from fruits), an activity that is very well received by people in the area. She tells us that this is a way in which she can make better income and cover all the household expenses. As Glendi tell us, she is very happy because this has been her lifelong dream: to have her own business.
Glendi es madre de dos niños, ha trabajado en restaurantes en los últimos dos años, lo cual le ha permitido adquirir experiencia en el negocio de venta de comidas. Actualmente le ofrecen la oportunidad de tener un negocio propio dedicado a la venta de batidos (bebidas eleboradas a base de frutas), actividad que en la región es muy acogida por la población, ella nos comenta que esta es una manera de obtener mejores ingresos y salir adelante con todos los gastos del hogar. La alegría de Glendi según nos comenta ella se debe a que este ha sido su sueño de siempre, el de tener su negocio propio.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
