Aged 53 years, Teang is a widowed mother of four children. She lives in a rural village of the Sampov Meas district, of Pursat province, Cambodia. Rice farming on a two-hectare plot of farmland is the main source of her family’s income. Having engaged in this business for 30 years, she is able to earn about 40,000 KHR per day, for current and future needs.
Teang has been with VisionFund for two previous loans. She completely repaid the past loans, and they enabled her to better support her family. Now she is asking for a new loan of 1,500,000 KHR. She will use a portion of it to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use another portion of it to pay labor fees. With this loan, she hopes to grow her rice healthfully and sell it for a good price, to improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
