Living in a rural village of the Dambae district, Poy is age 27 and married with one daughter. The main source of her family’s income is from cassava which she has grown for five years to make a living. For more income, her husband works as a paid worker in the local area. Together, they can earn approximately 20,000 KHR per day for the future needs.
Poy has just joined VisionFund for this loan. She is asking for a loan of 3,000,000 KHR to buy pesticides and plow the field and also spend on labor. She hopes that this loan will enable her to get a high crop yield from her cassava growing so she can sell it for a good price.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
