Djiguisseme Group

The Djiguisseme group is made up of married women and widows, who are aged 50 years on average and have an average of seven children each and live in traditional extended families in the city of Fana, in the Fana-coura area, Guegneka commune, Dioïla prefecture, Koulikoro region (second administrative region of Mali).
They met each other through family ties, neighbors, and friendship. They do business selling seasonings, clothing, fish, and bananas.
The women of the Djiguisseme group are on their fifteenth group loan.

The borrower Ami, second person from the left, will buy bags of onions, cans of tomato paste, Magie (bouillon) cubes, and pepper from suppliers in Bamako to sell them retail in the market in Fana, for cash and credit to a clientele made up mostly of women.
She hopes to make an average monthly profit of 40,000CFA francs, which will be used for her family's needs, and a portion will be reinvested in her seasoning selling business.

Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de parenté, de voisinage et d’amitié. Elles font le commerce de condiments, d’habits, de poisson et de la banane.
Les femmes du groupe Djiguisseme sont à leur quinzième prêt solidaire.
La cliente AMI, deuxième personne à partir de la gauche, compte acheter des sacs d’oignon, des boîtes de concentrée de tomate, des cubes Magie et du poivre avec les fournisseurs de Bamako, pour ensuite revendre au marché de Fana, au comptant et en détail à une clientèle composée essentiellement de femmes.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice moyen mensuel de 40 000FCFA qui sera utilisé pour ses besoins de la famille et une partie est réinvestie dans l’activité de vente de condiments.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
