Residing in Battambang province’s Moung Russey district, Tiem is 36 years old and a rice grower in the local area. She has struggled to make a living through her current business as a farmer in order to support her family, especially her two children, one who goes to school and a little kid who is too young for schooling. Tiem is able to generate about 48,000 KHR per day from the current business that she has had for ages.
Tiem is a fifth-cycle client with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) and has repaid her past loans completely. She feels confident that she can improve her lifestyle in a gradual manner. Now, her newly requested loan amount is 3,200,000 KHR. She will use this loan to add to her savings in order to buy an additional plot of farmland to grow more crops. She hopes that she can enlarge her business and get a doubled rice crop so that she can earn more income.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
