Rin, a citizen from the Moung Russey district of Battambang Province, is 50 years old and a married mother of four children. To provide for the family, she grows rice on a five-hectare area, and her husband catches fish to sell. She has been involved in her current business for 30 years, earning about 54,000 KHR per day.
Including this cycle, she is a second-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has fully repaid her past loan, which has upgraded her lifestyle in good condition. Now, she is seeking a new loan to support her business. She will use this loan to buy fertilizer for her farmland. She hopes to gain more yield from her crop and make more profit.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
