Hussan Group
In this Group: Hussan, Bakhtori
Hussan is a 40-year-old housewife. She is living in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, along her husband and five children. Her husband is a taxi driver, and this is the only source of income for their family.

Currently, her husband is in need of money to change the tires of his taxi as the old tires are unusable now, and he can’t drive the taxi properly with the old tires. Hussan, as a member of two-person group, has requested a loan from Kiva’s partner BRAC Pakistan so that her husband can buy new tires for his taxi. He would also do some repair work in his taxi. This would increase the monthly income and savings of her husband, and in the future, he would buy a new taxi with the profit amount.

As this taxi is the only source of income for her family, this loan is very important and beneficial for her. She desires to educate her children in good schools, and she is thankful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan for helping her.

Note: In the picture, Hussan is raising her hand.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
