Conjesta is a resident of Kitale, where she resides with her four children. She has been a farmer for five years producing milk, eggs and maize.
She has requested a loan of KES 50,000 for purchasing poultry. This will increase egg production which will help improve the family business. She wishes to have two thousand poultry and three dairy cows to generate more family income. Her main challenge is diseases affecting the livestock.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
