Evans resides in Kitale and has four children. He has been a farmer for the past five years, producing and selling milk and eggs to the local market.
He requested a loan of 50,000 Kenyan shillings from Juhudi Kilimo for purchasing poultry, and this will increase the level of egg production and thus, improve their level of income. He wishes to have 2,000 poultry and be the main egg supplier to the local market. His main challenge is diseases.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
