Salma, aged 38 years, is married and has been blessed with seven children. They own a house that neither has electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees.
For over three years, she has operated a tailoring business, making dresses for women and suits for men. Her potential customers are neighbors. She faces a major challenge of inadequate capital in the business.
With the KES 40,000 she wants to purchase cloth materials, sewing thread, and needles. She joined Yehu because it is responsive to customer needs.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
