Mwaka is 32 years old. She is married to Mohamed and together they have three children, two of whom attend school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees.
For the past four years, she has operated a green grocery business, selling to her neighbors and passersby. In addition, she also sells dry fish which earns her additional income. She mentioned that lack of enough capital has been a major problem in her business.
With this loan she would like to purchase green vegetables, tomatoes, potatoes, onions and kales. She joined Yehu because of favorable loaning procedures.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
