Rovelyn is 34 years old and married with one child. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates an agriculture business making nipa huts in the local community to earn a living. She has been in her business for over five years and earns 20,000 PHP every month. She joined GDMPC in 2010 and now she has requested a loan of 23,500 PHP to purchase raw materials for making a nipa hut. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
