Jose Alberto
Jose is an 18 year old young man and is unmarried. He lives in the city of Ica wih his parents and siblings. He is a very friendly, hardworking and enthusiastic person who is dedicated to getting ahead. Unfortunately, due to lack of resources and the need to work to help his parents, Jose was unable to study for a professional career in gastronomy. In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports and occasionally cooks a delicious dish called Tallarines Rojos to share with his family.

On his own initiative and through a great deal of effort and dedication, Jose works in construction. He offers his services as a laborer and construction assistant on different projects in his city. He works every day for approximately 10 hours a day and believes he is doing well because of his good performance on the job and his friendly treatment of others.

Jose is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to their help he will be able to make improvements on his dwelling since parts of it, especially the bedrooms, lack plaster on the walls and lack floors. In this way Jose and his family will be able to rely on a more secure and suitable environment. Thus he will continue working and striving to achieve his great dream, that of some day owning his own home.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
