Aged 35 years old, Sour is a rural villager from the Kandal Stoeng district earning a living through working at garment factory while her husband works as a paid worker in the local area to better support the family. Engaged in this business for 15 years, Sour is able to earn about US$11 per day to meet the family’s needs.
Sour has been with VisionFund for five cycles and she completely paid back the past loans which have helped her better support her family. Now she is applying for another loan with VisionFund to buy a decent motorbike to commute to work. She hopes this will enable her to reduce transportation fees.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
