A father of four children living in Kampong Cham province, Khom, is 47 years old and a farmer. He works in rice farming and cassava growing on two and three hectare areas, respectively, with the support from his wife. He has been involved in the current business for 27 years. Khom is not a first time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). He has used his past loan to sustain his business with a good output. Now, he is seeking a new loan to buy fertilizer and to pay the labor fees for his farmland. He hopes to gain a high income for his family.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
