A rural villager from the Tbaung Khmum district, Kon is 54 years old and married. She has seven children. She and her husband are farmers who grow rice and cassava. Having been in this business for almost 34 years, she and her husband currently can earn about 30,000 KHR per day per day.
This is the fifth microloan for Kon with VisionFund. The past loans have helped her better support her family. Now she is applying for another loan of 2,000,000 KHR to buy rice seeds for her farmland. She will also use a portion of it to buy buffalos to help her in the field. She hopes this loan will enable her to increase her family’s income to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
