VIDOLE is a group of three people who all live in the same neighborhood.

Adjowa (whose hand is raised in the photo) is the group's representative. She is 45 years old and married to a driver named Jean. Adjowa and Jean have four children, all of whom attend school and live in their care. Adjowa lives with her husband and children. Both she and her husband cover the various household expenses.

Adjowa has been selling food (beans and bread) door to door for about eighteen years now, in order to cover the various household expenses. She buys her products at a market in Benin. This is the fifth time that Adjowa and the other members of the VIDOLE group have sought the financial support of ALIDé with a view to increasing their working capital and strengthening their business in order to better meet the demands of their customers.

VIDOLE est un groupe de trois personnes, dont les membres habitent dans le même quartier. La représentante du groupe, Adjowa (dont la main est levée sur la photo), est âgée de 45 ans et est mariée à un chauffeur du nom de Jean. Le couple a quatre enfants, tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Adjowa vit ensemble avec ses enfants et son mari. Le couple assure ensemble les différentes charges de la maison. Afin de contribuer aux divers dépenses de la maison, Adjowa vend depuis dix huit ans environs, de la nourriture (haricot et pain) de façon ambulante. Adjowa achète ses produits dans un marché du Bénin. C’est la cinquième fois que Adjowa et les autres membres du groupe VIDOLE sollicitent l’appui financier de ALIDé en vue de renforcer leur fonds de roulement et leur activité et de mieux répondre aux exigences de leur clientèle.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
