Israel
Israel is from the city of Monterrey, Mexico. He was born on September 20th, 1976 and is 36 years old. He lives in Mitras Poniente, in the west of this city and has shared his home with his wife, Maria del Rosario, since August 2010. The couple don't have any children yet.

Israel stopped attending high school to start working so that he could help his mom and provide for his three younger siblings. His first job was in a shop, filling customers' orders. He then changed to his current job, working as a sales and distribution manager at a fruit shop, in order to make more income.

Israel has requested a Kiva loan because he would like to make some necessary repairs to the ceiling and roof of his house. They are in a very bad state of repair and the whole house gets wet when it rains. He hopes to receive this loan before the rainy period begins. Right now, Israel's main dream is to have his house in a good state of repair for when his first child is born.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
