Hellen is a resident of Nkubu, in the Meru Region of Eastern Kenya, where she lives with her husband and three children.
Hellen has been a farmer for over 20 years. She is 40 years old. In addition to farming, she also has a retail business as an extra source of income.
Hellen approached Juhudi Kilimo for a loan request of KES 50,000 to purchase poultry. This loan will help in improving her family's living standards. In the future, Hellen wants to have over 5,000 chickens, both layers and broilers.
Lack of sufficient funds and poor markets have been her major challenges. She is happy with Juhudi Kilimo for funding her.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
