Emelita is 50 years old, married with five children. She lives in Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates a copra production in the local community to earn a living. She has been in her business for over five years and earns 15,000 PHP every month. She joined in GDMPC in the year 2008, and now she has requested a loan of 21,000 PHP to pay for the labor of copra production. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
