Elsie is a 48-year-old resident of Clarin, Misamis Occidental in the Philippines. She provides for her three children's needs from the small amount of PHP 8,000 she gains monthly from her transportation service business. She has been in this business for seven years as an aid to the income gained from her husband.
This year Elsie has become a member of GDMPC, and she has applied for a PHP 12,000 loan at GDMPC micro-finance to purchase vehicle spare parts and accessories. In the future she would like to expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
