Savuth, age 41, has been blessed with three children, two sons and one daughter. She covers the daily cost of living by selling meatballs, whereas her husband is the in-charge person at a construction site. This is the only business that she has been with for 21 years.
With VisionFund (Kiva’s partner), Savuth is a first-time borrower. She is seeking a new loan, which she will use to support her husband's occupation, by purchasing a cement-mixing machine. She hopes that her husband will earn more income from his current job and better the family’s lifestyle.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
