Mary Grace is 38 years old, married, with five children. She lives in Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental. To earn a living, she owns and operates a fish-vending business. She has been in her business for over eight years and earns PHP 30,000 every month.
She joined Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) in 2009 and now she has requested a loan of PHP 40,000 to purchase fishing materials, such as nets and hooks and to make repairs to the boat. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
