The business is located in her home and also she works as a traveling vendor. She dedicates some 10 hours a day to her business with a bundle of some 20 kg, offering her merchandise to regular and casual customers. The objective of the loan is to invest in working capital and stock her business so that in the not-too-distant future she can obtain better income. Giliam Mercedes is grateful for the help that the Kiva investors provide to people of limited resources and poor countries like Nicaragua.

Giliam Mercedes de 41 años de edad, casada con un hijo de 16 años de edad, y está estudiando. Es originaria de la Paz Centro, lugar que está ubicado en la zona de occidente del país. Ella se caracteriza por ser una mujer trabajadora, responsable, con ganas de superación personal. Lamentablemente no pudo cursar una carrera universitaria, pero le hubiera gustado mucho estudiar trabajo social. Y lucha día a día para brindarle una mejor vida a su hijo.

Gracia a su esfuerzo y sus ganas de salir adelante es que tiene por actividad económica la venta de mercadería en general como pantalones, camisas, faldas, short, ropa de cama, camisetas, vestidos. El negocio lo tiene ubicado en su casa de habitación y lo desempeña de forma ambulante. Ella dedica unas 10 horas diarias a su negocio con un bulto de unos 20 kg ofreciendo su mercadería a clientes fijos y eventuales. El objetivo del crédito es invertir en capital de trabajo y surtir su negocio para que en un futuro no muy lejano pueda obtener mejores ingresos. Giliam Mercedes agradece la ayuda que los inversionistas kiva le brindan a personas de escasos recursos y países pobre como es Nicaragua.
