Daysi Cristiana
Daysi is an enterprising 33-three-old woman who is highly motivated and puts forth a lot of effort to better herself. She is married and has three children who live at home and are in school in different grade levels. She is an elementary school teacher, and she is grateful to her parents, who worked hard so that she was able to study and prepare herself to do work which she is passionate about.

It also was them who taught her the business of farming from the time she was very young. They taught her how to raise basic crops such as rice, corn and beans. She continues to do this work along with her husband after her teaching duties are done. Her crops are located on her own property, which enables her to be very vigilant so that she can prevent crop disease and protect her crops from animals and other things that could damage them. Her crops are commercialized and sold in her local area and surrounding areas.

Currently she is seeking assistance so that she can buy certified seeds so that she can plant a slightly larger amount on her property. She wants to take full advantage of the free space that she has and put it to good use.

Her goal in the long-term is to be able to buy another parcel of land, which would permit her to grow coffee, since the region where she lives is well suited for this, given its climate and its soil that is free of chemicals that could damage the seeds.

Her dream is to be able to have her own capital so that she can work independently and give her children a good education, which will enable them to study at the university level and allow them to have careers. They can then put their knowledge into practice, and at the same time they will have the inheritance that she and her husband are building.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
