Khy is from a rural village in the Bakan district of Cambodia. She is 55 years old, married and has two children who are still in school. She and her husband are hard-working farmers who make a living through farming rice and planting vegetables. To gain more income to better support the family, her husband also works for others for a fee. She and her husband have been in this business for almost twenty years.
Khy has been with Kiva’s partner VisionFund for two cycles. She completely paid back the past loans, which have helped her better support her family’s business. Now she is applying for another loan of 4,000,000 KHR to buy a hand tractor to support her rice paddy business. She hopes this loan will enable her to increase her business and make more income so as to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
