Veab is originally from the Sampov Meas district of Pursat Province. She is 44 years old and a mother with eight children—three of whom are still in school and need her support. She has three hectares of land for growing rice and it is the primary source of the familiy's income. She has been involved in her current business for ages.
Veab is in her fourth borrowing cycle with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). After completing the previous loans, which has helped her to uplift her living and her business, she feels confident that she can keep up a good progress in her business. She is now seeking a new loan to buy a mini-tractor to support her farmland. She hopes to reduce the plowing fee which she used to have and to use that money to buy good food for her children instead.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
