A rural villager from the Moung Russey district, Sing is 64 years old and married. He has eight children and two of them are still in school. He is a rice farmer with eight hectares of farmland. Having been in this business for almost 44 years, he currently can earn about 30,000 KHR per day.
This is the second microloan for Sing with VisionFund. The first loan has helped him better support his family. Now he is applying for another of 3,000,000 KHR to buy rice seeds for his farmland and to spend a portion of it on repairing his hand tractor. He hopes this loan will enable him to increase his family’s income to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
