This is Rima, a 34-year-old Lebanese woman. She’s married and lives with her husband, who has been working for a local company since 2000.
Rima started her own home business as a tailor in 2005. She’s stylish, fashionable and seeks to please her customers as much as she can.
Today, she’s looking to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l to purchase a new sewing machine in order to improve her business and therefore increase her productivity.
Rima has big responsibilities to care for and this is the perfect time to better develop her work and augment her earnings. She’s planning to open her own tailoring shop and also expand her business outside the country soon.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
